Pilar Moreno and Gonzalo Moratorio, founders of the startup Guska, had an outstanding participation at the Winter Conferences in Oncology.
Moratorio received the 2025 Winter Conferences in Oncology Award, while Moreno was one of the main speakers at the event.
In addition, the entire team of researchers from both the Experimental Virus Evolution Laboratory at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo (co-directed by Moratorio and Moreno) and the Molecular Virology Laboratory at the Faculty of Sciences (University of the Republic) received the Junior Award for their work on oncolytic viruses.
Moratorio and Moreno are developing viruses designed to specifically target tumor cells without harming healthy ones.
