Uruguay’s House of Representatives honored Gonzalo Moratorio, founder of Guska, as part of the Contemporary Heroes of the Bicentennial program.
The recognition highlighted his career as a researcher at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo and a professor at the University of the Republic, as well as his outstanding contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative recognizes Uruguayans, institutions, and organizations whose dedication and achievements have made a lasting contribution to the country.
Alongside Moratorio, the House also honored Dr. Rodolfo Gambini, a pioneer of theoretical physics and a key figure in the development of scientific research in Uruguay; Fundación Canguro, for its work providing care and affection to newborns in situations of extreme vulnerability; Fundación Clarita Berenbau, for its compassionate support of people with cancer and their families; and Ceprodih, an organization that has spent the past 27 years promoting autonomy, dignity, and opportunities for women and families living in vulnerable circumstances.
